I dont get it. If i ask my teacher in my clssroom what it is. people will laugh at me ./.... i trust you guys...anyway..... i wanted to how you can get hiv other reason then sex
Like any sexually transmitted disease, there are various amounts of ways you can receive them. They are:
Blood Breast milk Semen Vaginal secretions Saliva
Since this is a RELIGIOUS website. Let’s cut to the chase and get to the religious aspect of this;
If you follow the rules that our religion has set for us, you will not at all be at risk for this disease, or any other for that matter.
Long ago, people used to get diseases from blood transfusions. The chance of this happening in our present day is 0. Also, in school mostly, there is a common misconception that you can’t get any of these diseases from saliva. This is absolutely incorrect. You CAN get HIV, along with other diseases from saliva. For all of those who have had the same gay guy who comes into your classroom to teach you about aids and why “its not bad to be gay” or that you can have sex “aslong as you use protection”: you might have also had one person ask “can you get aids from kissing?” and the homo in the front of the room said “no, no you cannot!” he was wrong. You absolutely can, for some reason it’s kept in the closet. This might be because the chances of this happening are extremely small. However, that doesn’t change the fact that is it still very much possible and has been documented. For reasons beyond me, some of you will try to refute this and you may even go google it and paste a link to a site that was published by the homo himself. Plain and simple, you are incorrect. It is CLEARLY stated in the sixth edition of Benjamin Cumming’s “human biology”, chapter 43 that you CAN get aids from saliva. There are also numerous articles on http://www.medscape.com/.
The most valuable and only important thing I said was: If you follow the rules that our religion has set for us, you will not at all be at risk for any STD.
just a little correction...it's transferred through the blood not the milk, the blood of the mother is connected directly to the baby during birth, so the child will be born with the disease, because there is a transefer back and forth of blood between the mother and the child.
whats all just been said has been very interesting, but i have a question slighty off topic about gay people. Ok, im at uni in australia, and being such backward people (australians are), you really wouldnt believe how many gay people there are here. Personally i am against gay people as i believe what they are doing is very very bad and most certainly against god! I generally make my best efforts to dissociate myself from these kinds of people, or, for example, if im in a group of people i will purposely ignore them etc - i dont want to offend anyone (here) but i feel these people are nothing more than filth corrupting society! Also, just to clarify, im not homophobic, i dont care about homosexuals - but i just think they are 'hurting' god if you know what i mean. So here's what i want to know, is it wrong to be think of gays as filth etc considering the whole 'love thy neighbour' principle? My opinion is that gay's are people who dont really need to be considered in this as they are living in sin. At the same time im not exactly saying we should round them all up and kill them(which im guessing would be against god) but at the least, does out faith just let us consider gay people as 'rubbish' (for want of a better word) and people that we really dont need to do anything for?? Im looking forward to all your opinions - and again, im really not homophobic (so please dont label me that) but i just disagree with homosexuality - and even more its portrayal in the media as acceptable etc (though the media bit is for a whole another day!) Rabana Yosta :)
as christians, we treat them as sinners because they are disobeying the lord but how did jesus treat sinners???? i think that should answer ur qeustion if u stil aint sure, jus pm :)
As it been said over and over again in this forum that we should hate the sin not the sinners. Yes, gay people are sinning against God, but actually they think it's a kind of a disease they have, so it's our role to advice them of the real sin with words from the bible, we are not in any way responsible for judging them or ignoring them. If we were to do that, God would judge and ignore us as well. We are to love them, advice them of the sins they are doing, but we can't say we are going to hate and ignore them because they are siners, we are to look at ourselves first before looking at the sins of others.
just a little correction...it's transferred through the blood not the milk, the blood of the mother is connected directly to the baby during birth, so the child will be born with the disease, because there is a transefer back and forth of blood between the mother and the child.
Not true. Breast milk on its own can cause you to get this disease. If a baby, born from an uninfected mother nurses from a mother who is infected, the chances they will get infected are extremely high. Any bodily fluid harbors this disease because it carries lymphocytes.

Hi all I just thought I better add something because Not all what mark said is actually true. The chance of anyone contracting HIV from blood products is DEFINATELY NOT 0...... this occurs and some health professionals as a result of needle stick injuries contract the virus. If the blood was not screened adequately....it is possible to contract the virus from a blood transfusion. About contracting HIV from saliva...... that again is NOT correct. I have not heared about it or come across the book you quoted and wonder if it is a Medical textbook, and don't believe everything you read on the internet. This is from the Oxford Textbook of Medicine: "it is unlikely that salivary transmission of HIV can occur. The available evidence suggests that the HIV resides in the cellular fraction of oral fluid, CD4+ T cells and macrophages, and not the fluid fraction originating mostly from the salivary glands." I hope it helps
The chance of anyone contracting HIV from blood products is DEFINATELY NOT 0.....
Given that nothing is ever 100% nor 0%, we can assume the same for contracting aids. Accidents do happen, but they are rare. So yes, its not 0% maybe its 0.0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001% and seeing as the limit as X approaches 0 is 0. I’ll stick to saying the chances are 0. You do know that donated blood is screened several times, right?
About contracting HIV from saliva...... that again is NOT correct.
I can only quote myself…

The quote you provided even proves that your statement is incorrect. It says it is UNLIKELY to contract it. Just because it’s unlikely doesn’t mean it won’t happen, and doesn’t mean that it doesn’t happen.
And lastly the book I used as a reference is highly credible and I suggest you pick it up if you’re interested in the topic. In the event you still feel it’s not a worthy source I also cited medscape. Take a gander. I’m done.
[glow=blue,2,300]thanks guys[/glow][glow=red,2,300]but can some1 actually make a list of every possible reason that you can get hiv or aids. I cant keep up.[/glow]
[quote author=MarinaIsFly link=board=13;threadid=2231;start=15#msg34116 date=1123122244] can u get hiv or aids from kissing? likk i mean french kissing? thats been buggin me since forever!
I think he was explaning that it can be transefered through the saliva...so ya...but who cares really about a kiss...or a frenck kiss or whatever it is...i am sorry guys but it's just plain ridiculous to be asking those kind of questions...in every way shape and form...HIV/Aids come from sin, so ya...i guess don't be worrying so much about a disease...worry so much about the sin in itself
i wanted to say that but then i was like ehh... maybe not. Marianne... my mom works at a hospital and she tells me that every so often... a nurse is giving a shot to a person with HIV. when she goes to cap the shot... she pricks herself with the needle and gets HIV.. thats not a sin. Also... a few years ago there was a scandle i think... im not exactly sure but people would put infected needles in places like change slots in vending machines so when u would stick your finger in... you would get it. there are very silly yet true ways to get HIV that dont happen often...
So yes, its not 0% maybe its 0.0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001% and seeing as the limit as X approaches 0 is 0. I’ll stick to saying the chances are 0. You do know that donated blood is screened several times, right?

Hi sorry to keep on about it but really its not directed against anyone in particular. Its all about Communicating available Medical Evidence from an Accurate source e.g. Oxford Textbook of Medicine OR even better some of the other more specialised books in the field. It is not 0, and not o.ooooooo1. The chance of contracting HIV from needlestick is 0.01%. If you take the whole community of medical professionals then its still a significant number. Although blood is screened thouroughly, mistakes do happen and also in poorer countries the process may not be perfect. Its true HIV/AIDS is a sexually transmitted infection, and also through Intravenous drug abuse. But there are other Clear modes of transmission, and It is NOT right to put everyone in the same boat. It can NOT be transmitted through saliva...... However, I will consult a friend who is a Consultant in the field and will put the definitive answer
LOL...np np...I kinda of forget about that one, but it's like everyone is asking about a disease...it's just the will of God who gets what, so like if u be careful...u won't get it...but it's ok...i am sorry guys...lol
;)I never knew i was gonna have a lot of people on this topic....Ive heard in the Aribic Channels(El Jazeera) that people in Asia have HIV and AIDS....My Dad said that doctors cant know if you have HIV only after 8 years of it(youre contegious)--((probably your family has hiv and aids too))--(((maybe all your friends have it now too)))<My point is that until doctors find out you've had probably made more than 5000 people sick now>
((probably your family has hiv and aids too))--(((maybe all your friends have it now too)))<My point is that until doctors find out you've had probably made more than 5000 people sick now>
HIV and AIDS are spread more in Africa than Asia and mostly eastern Asia has more HIV and AIDS! Well, we can all thank God that we don't have it or are immuned to it! May the Lord help us all!

Hi Actually John there are Fundamental mistakes with what you have written... Sorry but your Dad is Absolutely Incorrect. If someone contracts HIV, there are available blood tests and again you would do the test after 6 month of the incident...it will show whether or not a person has contracted the virus... It is NOT like a fever, and a person will not get the virus from, lets say, shaking hands with someone who has... This is incorrect Medically. Just goes to show how little is known about this in the community

Its actually not the quantity of salvia that causes you to get it. It's what’s IN the sample of saliva. I'm curious where you heard that.
