What I mean by sermons from the past is old recordings of sermons, that date from the 19th century at least.

Sermons, in the same way you are thinking of today, was not really a thing specifically before the time of the Sunday School movement led by St. Habib Girgis. So, i doubt you'll find any recordings for those.

what about saint john chrysostom's famous pascal homily?

i think there were sermons in the old days, like in the pascha book (for holy week)

did they stop having them in egypt at some stage and then restart?

Well, I am not referring to those per se. but, considering that what's asked is something that is recent, and we would compare it to the standards of sermons we get now, almost weekly, there wasn't as many people that new how to give a sermon during that period of time.
