2nd Part After 2nd Theotokeia Part :: القطعة الثانية بعد القطعة الثانية من الثيوطوكية

A medicine for all wounds,
Is fasting with mercy for the needy,
Our Master fasted after His baptism,
Forty complete days on the mountain.

Finally, He felt hunger,
The tempter dared to call to Him,
Saying, "Say to the stones,
To become bread to feed the hungry."

Our Master defeated him with His words,
"Man shall not live by bread alone,
But by all the words of God,
Away with you, O Satan."

When he heard these sayings,
He fled and vanished like smoke,
His desires and hopes were crushed,
He was shamed, expelled and humiliated.

He is a wretched thief,
Who cannot attack the vigilant,
He comes to those who are asleep,
And throws them in the midst of his companions.

Refrain:
Blessed are those who have mercy,
Who give to the poor and fast and pray,
The Holy Spirit will fill their hearts,
The Son will show them mercy on Judgment Day.

Arabic-English:
Dawa-a yoobre-e koolel gerahat,
Al-soom wal ra-a-fa bel-masakeen,
Men ba´d el-`emad sayedna su-am,
Arbea´een yawman fel-gabal kameleen.

Fa gea-`a fel-akher gaw-`an be-alam,
Fa gasar el moogareb wa nadah be-yaqeen,
Qal lahoo qool lel-hega-ra´ anta be-kalam,
Na-seer khoobzan yoohyel-gae´-een.

Fa-ra´sha-qoo sayedna men feh,
Qal laysa bel khoobzel yah-yal-ensan,
Bal be-koole kalam Allah,
Ehrab men khalfee ya shaytan.

Fa-lamma samee´a zal-qa´wlee dah,
Wa-sara zaheb methlel-dookhan,
Fa-khab amalooh we-enqa-ta´ ra-gah,
Wa sar makhzee matrood moohan.

Le-anahoo lisan sareq meskeen,
Wa-el sahara la yastea ´alay-hem,
Bal yagee lel-mootagha-feleen,
Fe was-te ashrake-hee yarmeehem.

Refrain:
Toba lil-rohama a`la masakeen,
Fa-en el-rahama tehele a´lehom,
Will-masih yerham-hom fe yom el-deen,
We yehel broh qodso fehom.
