Commentary for the Second Day of the Resurrection (Shamm el-Nissim) :: طرح لثاني يوم القيامة (شم النسيم)

Watos:

On the eve of the Sabbath, the women could only weep and mourn and lament.

And at the dawn of Sunday, the weeping was postponed and the mourning has ceased.

For the great joy of the Resurrection of God the Logos has abolished sorrows. Stop weeping; rejoice and be glad because of this day and its great glory. Where are those who have said, “He who lays with the dead does not rise again?!”

Let the soldiers who guard the tomb of the Mighty One be ashamed today. Do not heed the leaders of the people who instructed you to say, “His Disciples came at night and stole His body while we were sleeping.” Speak the truth and do not lie about the Savior’s Resurrection because money will not benefit you.

Behold the women and all those who know the only-begotten Son of God, returned with the fragrances [they have brought for His body] to the place where they came from, where His Disciples and His beloved brethren are; those who preached His Resurrection to all of creation under heaven.

Therefore, let us glorify Him forever. Amen.
