مزمور 29 : 3 – 4

From the Psalms of our father David the prophet, may his blessings be with us all. (Amen)

من مزامير أبينا داود النبي، بركاته على جميعنا.

The voice of the Lord is over the waters; The God of glory thunders; The Lord is over many waters. The voice of the Lord is powerful. Alleluia.

صوت الرب على المياه. إله المجد أرعد. الرب على المياه الكثيرة. صوت الرب بقوة. هلليلويا.

Matthew 3:13-17

متَّى 3 : 13 - 17

A reading from the Gospel according to Saint Matthew the Evangelist, may his blessings be with us all. Amen.

فصل من الإنجيل لمعلمنا مار متَّى البشير، بركاته على جميعنا. آمين.

Then Jesus came from Galilee to John at the Jordan to be baptized by him. And John tried to prevent Him, saying, “I need to be baptized by You, and are You coming to me?” But Jesus answered and said to him, “Permit it to be so now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness.” Then he allowed Him.

حِينَئِذٍ جَاءَ يَسُوعُ مِنَ الْجَلِيلِ إِلَى الأُرْدُنِّ إِلَى يُوحَنَّا لِيَعْتَمِدَ مِنْهُ. وَلكِنْ يُوحَنَّا مَنَعَهُ قَائِلاً: «أَنَا مُحْتَاجٌ أَنْ أَعْتَمِدَ مِنْكَ، وَأَنْتَ تَأْتِي إِلَيَّ!» فَأَجَابَ يَسُوعُ وَقَالَ لَهُ: «اسْمَحِ الآنَ، لأَنَّهُ هكَذَا يَلِيقُ بِنَا أَنْ نُكَمِّلَ كُلَّ بِرّ». حِينَئِذٍ سَمَحَ لَهُ.

When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him. And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”

فَلَمَّا اعْتَمَدَ يَسُوعُ صَعِدَ لِلْوَقْتِ مِنَ الْمَاءِ، وَإِذَا السَّمَاوَاتُ قَدِ انْفَتَحَتْ لَهُ، فَرَأَى رُوحَ اللهِ نَازِلاً مِثْلَ حَمَامَةٍ وَآتِيًا عَلَيْهِ، وَصَوْتٌ مِنَ السَّمَاوَاتِ قَائِلاً: « هذَا هُوَ ابْني الْحَبِيبُ الَّذِي بِهِ سُرِرْتُ».

Glory be to God forever.
