Muslim Brotherhood ties with violence against Optic Churches Egypt

Are there any ties between those who bomb, burn and murder Christians with that organization?

  • I think they're smarter than to turn to violence, not because they're opposed to violence but because for the last thirty years Mubarak has had his boot on their necks. If they tried anything like that he would have had them all executed. The official investigation decided that it was a Palestinian Islamist group that was responsible, and they DENIED it. Terrorist groups NEVER deny something that they did - in fact most attacks are claimed by several different terrorist groups at once. I suspect that if the Govt. had the evidence to pin it on the Brotherhood they certainly would have - Mubarak would have loved the opportunity to arrest some of them.

It was definitely Islamists that attacked us, but I don't think it was any specific group - I think it was just a homemade bomb by a young Egyptian mujahed.

God bless and pray for me

Thank you Epchoise for this post. I found it really accurate, and in accordance with what most independent media outlets have been reporting.

May I just add one thing that is not being said:

For Al Qaida to have influenced a local terrorist attack on Egyptian soil, by an Egyptian Mujahid, it means that there must have been fertile ground for the seeds of Islamic extremism to have grown in Egypt to make such ideologies of hatred flourish.

People, we must use what we can to make Egypt Secular. The ground is already fertile for Islamic Extremism to grow in Egypt. It does not need a political power whose slogan is "Islam is the Solution" right now.

Do Egyptians forget the terrorist attacks against foreign tourists?? The numerous attacks?? Are their lives worth anything??

Do you REALLY need Islam to guide your country more than this???

Egypt isn't just another country like Tunisia, Algeria, or Morocco - its the seat of ancient civilisation. Its heritage belongs to the world. Islamic fundamentalism is bound to throw Egypt back into chaos and destruction.

Well said - I agree 100%. The Brotherhood will only make the soil even more fertile. Lord have mercy on us if they end up in power.

Those pushing for the Islamic Brotherhood to take power are interested in Egypt being part of the Islamic Caliphate. They want this. Which means what??

It means that they are interested in an ulterior agenda other than the interests of Egypt itself.

It means that its just going to be another Iran/Iraq/Pakistan - it will lose its identity as a moderate, warm and tolerant country. As a peacemaker with Israel. Already its losing this image.

To say you are "Egyptian" today is hard. At a social/domestic level, we are synonymous with religious intolerance, extremism and fanatism. More than this, we might as well get rid of our Egyptian passports. Egypt will be unrecognisable to us if it becomes overpowered by Islamic fanatics.

Islamic extremism is manifested in everyday Egyptian society. The current constitution hides the ugly reality with its "democratic" and "secular" tone. Apparently, according to the constitution, the law is equal for all Egyptians "...regardless of religious affiliations".

In practice, this is not the case, and the government has turned a blind eye to what is clearly social, political and religious discrimination.

Such turning of a blind eye was one of the reasons many Coptic Christians were anti-Mubarak. He subdued the MB, yet ultimately endorsed their religious, discriminatory and hate filled policies anyway. All this, whilst using the terms such as "democratic, equal, and tolerant".

We all know that the current government is clearly intolerant towards religious non muslim minorities such as the Coptic Church. Its clear... just look at what happened in Omranya, Nagaa Hamadi and Al Kosheh.

Look at the police officer who killed Christians on a train going to Cairo from Sohag. He screamed "There is no other God but god" before pulling the trigger.

Was he speaking and acting on his own behalf or on behalf of all of Egyptians? I don't know. I just get the impression that muslims are starting to feel sorry for us and embarassed at the complete amount of anti-Christian hatred in their own countries that they also want a change.

If we are governed by Islamic Sharia, and we don't know what that is like, then look at the case of Asia Bibi. The Christian woman who was asked to fetch some water by her muslim co-workers on a farm in Pakistan. They told her that the water was unclean to drink for them because she had "polluted it" for being a Christian. The dialogue culminated in her saying that she is a Christian because "what did Mohammad do for mankind, yet Christ gave His Life for us".

She is now being charged and sentenced to death for blasphemy against Islam.

And the pakistanis WANT her to die. They cannot change the constitution to save her, because changing it would result in changing Islamic Jurisprudence; and they cannot do that.

Ultimately, democracy - freedom of speech, and freedom of thought are all gone under Islamic governance. Freedom of religion is gone.

You maybe free to be a Christian under Sharia law, but what good is that freedom if you are persecuted for it also??

Pro MB Muslims don't realise nor care about this. If they do... then I'm happy to revoke my Egyptian nationality. This is not an Egypt I want.
