Someone in school pointed this out to me. Is this meerley a coincidence or is it a sign? 09/11/01 = Terrorist attack on World Trade Center +03/10/11 = Japanese earthquake/tsunami/tragedy 12/21/12 = predicted end of world.
09/11/01 = Terrorist attack on World Trade Center +03/10/11 = Japanese earthquake/tsunami/tragedy +08/29/05 = Katrina hits new orleans +12/26/04 = Date of indonesian tsunami +05/17/72 = McDonald's introduces the Big Mac
As far as I know the Americans are the only nation in the world to abbreviate dates in that way. To the rest of the world Sept 11th 2001 is 11/9/01. The Earthquake 10/3/11. Add them together and you get a different result. So, as Fr Peter says its best ignored.

I understand and everything. Just about the dates... if you add it up, you get 21/12/12 which is the same date.
lol i know. I just found it very strange that these two tragic events add up to the mayan predicted date...the date that was predicted long before these events occurred

You're right. I'm stupid but you should still ignore eschatological conclusions based on mathematics. Look at the various attempts of the JWs to predict the end admittedly based on the bible. !975 was a famous wrong end based on what 'time and times and half a time' might mean.
Not to be rude or anything, but since when does anyone listen to the Mayans about anything? If the Mayans are so great at predicting the future, why did they lose their empire? ???
Leave such concerns to people who want to obsess over numbers. Such things have no impact at all on our salvation, which is what we should be focused on. God could take us all tomorrow, and then what would we say?

It's a sign.... that this someone at school has way too much time on their hands.
Thank God I don't know how to read or tell time.

Wouldn't it make more sense if you added up the worst genocide attack and natural disaster together, instead of just 2 randoms ones?
Let's do this the right way:
Worst genocide attack-- China 1958
Biggest earthquake in history--Chile 1960
Total: 3918
Be assured there is nothing to worry about now since we still have 1907 years left ;)

The same could be said of any great civilization though.
God bless
