After the resurrection, Why was Jesus appearing to His disciples and some of the believers rather than appearing to the other people and the commoners like before the crucifix?
I also i have to say that they became His reflection into the world after that. He had to go and make them ready for that title--to evangelize, to baptize in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
The Disciples were tasked with preaching the gospel and making disciples of the nations. They witnessed Christ's ministry, His arrest, His Crucifixion and His Death. It was necessary, therefore, for them to also be witnesses of His Resurrection. Otherwise, how could they preach Christ crucified and resurrected? As St. Paul tells us, if Christ did not rise from the dead, our faith is in vain. The Resurrection was the climax of Christ's ministry and so, the people who would represent Him to the nations had to witness it firsthand.
It's a symbolic thing. Before the cross he was in front of everyone because everyone is called to salvation. It's open to all people. But after the resurrction, he only appeared to a Few. It's symbolic because even though all are called, christ's salvation was Only accepted by a select number of people.
The people denied him the first time. Should they have got a chance to deny him again, importantly after his resurrection. Those people would of spread the wrong word, especially when Jesus was the word.
