may God guide u. keep in touch with people in the parish and learn from them how they understand the orthodox life. read a lot about church history and about orthodox churches. read the Bible a lot. pray from the agpeya. http://www.agpeya.org/ good advice is to pray the Lord's prayer (our Father) and perhaps also the prayer of thanksgiving in the evening and the morning and then pray your personal prayers or other prayers from the agpeya. most of us are not able to pray 7 times a day, but we are aiming somewhere in that direction (maybe if we get old enough to retire... i am nowhere near that so far!)
You are in texas rit?....we have a monastery there. http://abbey.suscopts.org/ see if you can visit or even spend sometime there. Actually, Fr. Daniel, who is in charge of the retreat house (small individual retreats), is a convert.
