Is there anyone who is commiting sin because they know someone like me is?

    I am not sure what you are asking but it seems like you are addicted to porn and trying to stop? Let me offer you some advice. My friend had the same problem and I helped him. I told him to make the wallpaper of any device he watches porn on the crucifixion (cell phone, computer, tablet etc). That way, before you think about watching it, you see how much suffering Jesus went through because of your sins. Obviously, the devil will begin to fight you more so if you fall again, you look at the cross and repent immediately and pray to help stop your sin. I pray this helps.

    Fast, fast and fast continuously. Stop eating meat, eggs, cakes etc.
    Fornication comes out of a full belly.
    The most serious problem of the Christians of our generation is lack of reverence towards fasting.
    That is why the Apostel said " When I am weak, then I am even stronger..."
    When your body weak because of fasting then you will very strong at throwing away the lusts of the flesh.

    Without fasting the devil and the flesh will make your life Hell.

    Walk in the Spirit and you shall not fulfill the desires of the flesh.
    Therefore it is all about prayer which is aided by fasting
    see fasting is choosing not to have a good time with food and praying instead to console you.
    It should only be performed by those who have demonstrated that they are able to do all that they want even while fasting or that they have all their needs but not all their wants

    It was particularly done in generations where feasting was the main source of joy. All their work did not require any mental concentration
    Yes by choosing not to have a good time with food you will not feel dependent on food for consolation and arrogant towards the true poor.
    Too much food and worldly pleasures leads to no time for God. Eating food makes you desire more food later as the taste is still in your system and mind

    I have yet to read the scriptures again and do a deep bible study on this topic and I will read spirituality of fasting

    Do not taste etc are men's traditions for God said "I will put My Spirit upon you and cause you to walk in My statues" It is God's doing. Fasting is truly an action of humility when it is done by a king and (who feels no loss from fasting) Daniel the prophet and the three young men fasted and were great but this was one example and we must read the whole bible we can not base our life on that. It is an action of humility because you choose to afflict your soul to give proof to yourself in front of God that you are serious about repenting. "A righteous man swears to his own hurt and does not change"

    while man does not live by bread alone but by EVERY WORD of the LORD. My parents do not like this idea of living by every word of the LORD. They do not like the verse where it was mentioned David and Moses commands to meditate on the Law of the LORD day and night or psalm 1. They do not believe there is a spiritual reason behind laziness. But they honestly think it is best that we don't do this excess

    you see I am allergic to fish and so can not eat fish on fasting days.
    I focus better taking caffeine. Even my handwriting drastically changes

    The old testament mentions as much feasting days as fasting days and Jesus was accused as a glutton though He did not overeat but He would not have filled all the requirements of the church all the time. It is better to break your fast than to be inhospitable to your neighbor

    I think exercise would help me but I can not fit it in my schedule but I will fit 10 minutes a day

    you see I stopped fasting because I was sick one time and fainting and I said to myself why am I doing this.. I fasted also for many days when I felt crushed by doubts about Jesus and I wept before God for long but it did not help really fast. I almost was knocked out for not eating but only drinking water for 3 days

    My FOC said to me I am like a stick and we are losing you
    Bishop Youssef says we are to look after our body I saw on tv once
    he was making a comment on the verse do not touch do not taste do not handle

    I guess it is a fear of approaching God and talking too much to Him that keeps people like me away from prayer. I fear feeling like the only one who has a deep connection to God and it looks to my parents I thought that I am wasting my time and not studying. I get the urge to pray out loud and this sometimes makes people angry. I find no places to pray in the world but I can pray silently. But I know my dad tells me to build a relationship with God and speak to Him as you speak to Me. But he says not to read the bible more than 30 minutes a day

    Sometimes I have felt I have no words to say so I don't try to start it. I have tried to prevent myself from being a spiritual crazy man to the world

    Now St Paul says if I give my body to be burnt but have not love I am nothing and benefits me nothing

    I have felt since not even fasting helped me in some spiritual dilemmas and when I was sick and because I felt not happy that I do not need to. When I have received from God then it is the time to give back to God. When you know your needs are met and can give of your wants
    we should not follow any man or church blindly but St James says to try all prophesies and ask for wisdom from God. Even Pope Shenouda would say this though he strongly believes in fasting

    It is the churches duty to stress the benefits of this practice but perhaps please not to over do it. We are not holy because of our own methods of self control but because of God's grace and pity

    The fact that I felt the church is not loving towards those who brake these rules nor able to help them in their struggles patiently waiting to see them improve in what concerns them and even forbid kindness to those who break it makes me conclude it is not of God to be done to the excess. The fact that I even when to the hospital once from praying just all my agpeya prayers slowly. The fact that God does not make me taste its benefit so fast and drive away doubts in it is something to ponder for me as will. I will seek to use the bible later hopefully to show how this law was broken such as in the feasting days
    How can the church by its continuous yoke throughout the year forbid people from having any time for the things which God himself said is lawful in the new and old testament. David feasted many times as well as fasting
    God had given all the herbs and the animals for the benefit of man the bible says

    woe to those who feast for pleasure and not for strength

    you see God encouraged feasting for strength..

    Do not labor for the food that perishes... but ... everlasting life .. this one proves that we must seek God earnestly in humiliation to obtain wisdom from God

    you see I don't want to blame myself if I fail in my studies that it was because I fasted or prayed too much

    the fact that I see most people look after the health of their body and most of them are successful is also something to ponder
    when have you seen a skinny guy talk coherently and work and talk with colleagues for long times. Skinny people do not tend to socialise well I think. I can not hold an idea in my head for long to solve my programming tasks it must be because I am skinny because skinny people perhaps can not stress the brain to solve a problem long enough their back and neck complains you have to crack your back to get enough stress to finally reinforce your working memory also well that is it for me but perhaps it is so with everyone

    how dare the church say not fasting is unlawful when the bible says "All things are lawful for me but not all things are helpful"

    But I feel most afraid that God would not like me to use Him to get my studies done Prayer is communication with God for spiritual benefit not for studies

    Now Jesus said "Do not worry.. about food..." Your Father knows you have need of all these things. Therefore He knows we need food

    have you heard about the monk who fasted alot and prayed alot and the devil appeared to him in the form of Christ and told him to jump off a cliff and Elijahs chariot will save you .. you are the only one worthy of seeing me.. maybe not that extreme will happen to you if you fast alot but you will develop a hatred towards those who do not do as you do and you might insult them in public you spend all your time worrying about other people but no time for yourself.. praying is all about asking about other people's salvation the church wants

    thats what fasting all the church fasts and praying tends to do to you
    put oil on your head and do have humility before all men

    Why do u have to watch?? If u and men like u did not support this depravity there would be no use for it in the world! Those girls are victims! Some of them maybe even drugged and forced into that life!! Why?? Because  of coward men who would rather prostitute their women than follow Gods Way!!

    All I asked was "Why do u watch it" I'm not treating u inhumanely; although I do feel what u said about those poor victims was inhumane.
    But, yes we are all victims, the pimps as well as the prostitutes are victims.
    The Devil has deceived the whole world! And, really I am sorry for creation because until we break away from Satan's bonds we r doomed!

    Oh, also, I think I should add.....Do u think those women have come from priviledge? do u think that they had a wonderful life and opportunities? do u think they come from aloving family environment? No, if u ask most of them they will tell u their parents were drug addicts, or they don't even know their parents! They were molested from young! They have never even known love! No child says "Oh yeh, I wanna be a prostitute when I grow up!
    You think Mary Magdelene was proud of her life?? No, she felt forced to live that life! But because she was so familiar with lust she recognized True Love when she saw it and was quick to repent with many tears and humble service to Jesus our Lord!!!
    I was listening to Abuna Anthony Messeh yesterday on youtube and he said he would rather we were Mary Magdelene then the Saduccees and Pharisees. The Saducees and Pharisees participated and encouraged her sinful ways and really were more guilty than her. Mary was just trying to survive in a cruel, cold world the Saducees and Pharisees were just taking advantage of her. Instead of helping her in a godly way, they used and abused her, then scorned her......does this scenario seem familiar mikeforjesus? Are u sure u are "for Jesus"? God treated Mary the sinful woman with love and respect! Who is mere man to think he can curse who God blesses??!!

    Are you starting a thread seeking a member's approval of your habit?

    It is tempting, it seems harmless. It's just images on a screen, what could it possibly do. Isn't it better than going out there and committing over sins?

    The problem is, there is emptiness inside. And we try to temporarily fill it with toxins. It is like a drug; you take it again and again, eventually need more and more of it to get an effect.

    It is wrong, end of story. No discussion is needed in order to 'negotiate' how bad porn is.

    It seems like discussing porn addiction doesn't help. We need to find an alternative, active way to address the problem.

    We are all good actors at portraying an image of perfection to other people. But deep down, everyone is tangled in problems, fighting personal wars.

                            With sin can come self-pity, and with self-pity we seek sympathy. Sould we have sympathy for your sin? No. You have to deal with it. There shouldn't be any of the excusses those who have self-pity have. Don't judge me. Everyones doing it, and soforth.

      We use the gospel to keep us clean and this is what would be helpful to you mikeforjesus. You may have said to yourself, it's human nature, or it's my hormones, or there is some other excuss. Are these excusses for adultery? No. Sin is selfish and a civil war for the conscience. Should others have sympathy for selfishness, or for the civil war you share with us?
      A true conscience is yes means yes and no means no. When you come here, I'm sure we will say no because our conscience follows the teachings of the bible.

      I've being away awhile because of our new baby boy. I don't watch porn because it is adultery and the civil war is a betrayal to everyone involved: God first; my wife; my sons; the women I'm looking at, and myself.

    I was not seeking sympathy for sin I was seeking to see if my sins lead to others sinning

    May I recommend that you download the lectures of Dr. Nabil Baky. He is a councellor in these matters for the Church.

    Secondly, porn addiction is worse than substance addiction; as substance addiction can be overcome by substances  - porn cannot.

    I would recommend that you go to a spiritual retreat for 2 weeks, and where there is NO internet access. Stay away from the internet for a good 2 or 3 weeks. No Facebook, google, tasbeha.org...

    We don't save souls. God does
    we don't change people's lives. God's grace does

    My brother, look to your own salvation first, then you can worry about others'. Worrying about the sins of others is a burden you do not need to bear now. Leave that to the spiritual fathers.

    "And why do you look at the speck in your brother's eye, but do not consider the plank in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, 'Let me remove the speck from your eye': Hypocrite! First remove the plank from your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye." (Matthew 7:3-5)

    mikeforjesus, we are a witness to Christ. With christmas coming up, you know that that is one of the things we witness of God. The bible is a spritual witness in which we live our lifes. I know you would like others to be closer to God, but you have to be a reliable witness. How can you look at porn, then maybe take communion to clean yourself, then maybe see porn again and say that you would be a reliable witness to Christ, when you haven't defeated the sin? What would happen? You bring someone to God and they find out you watch porn.

        The reason I brought up self-pity about sin was because there is no movement from the sin on our behalf. Instead, we look to others in sympathy in the struggle. I look at it this way. Obey what Jesus said what was most important about the law, and that was to love God first, that way get ourself in order, then love our brother, that way you can witness for God.

    truly I will help people to be saved when I do not look at porn not because of them knowing I have changed but because God will hear my prayers to help others rise.  Or maybe I am wrong and it is all about image. That means we are responsible for others going to hell if they see us at las vegas. If we go to a concert we are responsible of the celebrities going to hell and of the people there who know we went
    I have never went to a concert but I thought I understood correctly "that noone is able to seperate me from God's love"

    Father Peter would differ on this. He said we must give them the orthodox faith like God needs us to save them

    religion creates confusion and not peace
    their own people do not agree and sometimes they change their own opinion or something

    they try to convice you being religious going to all the services and communion will make you go to heaven but inside nearly all people are afraid of their Heavenly Father because they have no relation with Him. Truly the only people who should be afraid are devil people

    I pray for the remission of your sin Mike. I don't think there is enough repentance, even in church. People don't see enough truth about themselves to be contrite. We are not perfect but we are to try to come to prefection by the gospel of Christ. We should be as close to our Fathers of confession as much as possible so he would know the weakness that has to be fixed. It's no good saying everyone has or had the problem and look to them to fix it.

    Thanks be to God I am controlling myself and have therefore obtained peace and blessings
    I am controlling myself as I realise if I do not change now I never will and sin lies at the door but I should rule over it
    if I keep falling I won't learn the lessons God wants to teach me and I won't live a life led by God

    I very much regret this post because when I overcome sin "as I am not under law but under grace" you will not know about it
    I thought this forum was big enough to deal with my problems but maybe not
    Even if that means I end up seeing a priest and take Communion as I am not sure full truths are easily found out if even possible
    (I want to edit out that even if I Will I assume it is the only way unless proven otherwise clearly to all)
    If I am counted worthy to rise
    I chose not to sin yesterday and felt empowered and blessed
    lf people are in fact sinning because of me perhaps I will not be saved if I do not overcome (unless they will sin now so that I can fear the church and people) and I can not compare myself to others and anyway I will have to meet God and give account of everything
