Hey y'all! ;)
First topic I'm posting here, and i'm ready to get a lot of help from you all. I'm the average 19 yr old, and i'm addicted to this sin which is absolutely driving me crazy! : Masturbation :-[ . I've been struggling since I was around 12, trying to get rid of it since. I confessed it many times, but to no avail, it still keeps on coming back! I HATE IT >:( I just want it gone! Even if I try to stop for a week...two.... three.... it still comes back, and Satan is always kicking me down! I'm tired of just falling and standing, over and over again! I know someone on here who's older than me, and has more experience with puberty and what not, can give me advice to help stop this sin once and for all. I need prayers guys! I really do :-\
Pray for my weakness!

So sorry for interjecting. May I just ask: is curiosity a sin?
How does being curious bring you to sin?
What are the problems with being curious?
How can you stop being curious?
I believe curiosity in itself is not a sin. In fact, curiosity when used appropriately is a beautiful thing. God created us to be curious. But in the early teenage years, friends at school may tell someone to check out a website for pornography. That teenager, not out of impurity, but out of sheer curiosity will look up the website. This well then lead to masterbation, and it becomes very difficult, especially for teens, to come out of the sin. This was started with curiosity. After masterbation, curiosity of actual sexual intercourse may lead a teenager to lose his or her virginity. So the sin of fornication could arise from originally being curious and going on a website a person heard about. The same goes for drugs, alcohol, and many sins. It is good to be curious about Godly things, such as hymns, coptic, the church, as well as science, astronomy, math. Curiosity can lead to very good things, as well as very bad things. Anyone disagree?
But teens, EVEN adults will be curious.
For example : I just had a chat with a friend at work about adultery: He also mentioned the term curious - he is curious to know what its like to be with other women. But he is married, and he KNOWS that this is wrong. I guess as a teenager, the same "I know this is wrong" should be in them.
If they've already gotten into pornography, they most likely know its wrong (and it started out as curiosity) - but they are in an addictive sin. Sexual addiction is a reality.
To get out of this sin does not mean to stop being curious, but I think one should really REALLY engage in the sacraments. This will help you. Without God, you can do nothing, and this one thing you cannot overcome by yourself.
I think what you should do is pray God to heal you from the effects of this, and have Holy Communion.
Confessing this is good, but the main thing is to be FREE from this sin - of pornography.
I'm sure you will get married one day, and you'll see that all women are beautiful - yet pornography harms the voyeur (you) and the woman of course - but mostly you.
