Are non backbones seafood allowed on Wednesdays and fridays?

I read that no meat or fish or dairy products, some told me that you can eat non vertebrae sea food like crabs and lobsters and and clams and oysters, is this true?

  • No. All of these are considered seafood.
  • some people changed the fasting rules a few hundred years ago to include them, but then the rules were changed back soon after.

i once asked my priest if we can eat whale when fasting
    :O

he said, 'no' because it is an endangered species so we shouldn't eat it anyway.

hope you had a happy fast and feast :)

we have more fasting soon, as we get closer to God by controlling ourselves

I’d never heard of this distinction! It sounds a lot like how Catholics treated beavers as fish so they can eat them during fast.. :))
  • eating beavers?!
    :O
they are so important for the environment, i thought they were fairly endangered anyway!
we don't have them in britain, so happily i can stick to fish
    ;)

  • we are allowed to eat flowers on wednesdays and fridays
    :)
here there is a good picture of a radish flower - it is edible and delicious (slightly sweeter than lettuce). i had some this week from some radish plants that had produced flowers and seeds.
pansies and calendula flowers are also edible.
you can sprinkle them on your food and it will look so lovely that you will forget about eating animals
    :)
