wats a metropolitan??

i know a bishop is like responsible for an obroshia..but wats a metropolitan i know he's higher than a bishop..wat does he do exactly?

    He's the bishop of a metropolis - big or important city. It's similar to titles such as Arhcbishop or (if the see has received such an honour) Patriarch.

    ok thanks..!! but wat do you mean an important city..like wat.. i still dont get it all i know is that he's higher than a bishop..but can anyone gimme examples!!

    it's like the diffrence between priests and hegumens.
    they are basiclly uped bishops for what Orthodox11 said, for being older in there bishoprics and some other reasons.
