WCC and Pope Benedict to Meet (Middle East Churches on the Agenda)

edited December 1969 in Random Issues
Hello,

There is quite some interesting news here:

http://www.christiantoday.com/article/pope.and.world.council.of.churches.leader.to.meet/27185.htm

Let's hope that something fruitful can come out of this meeting. I was under the impression that the Catholic Church had been doing a lot in fact to unite with us. I think that the Rev Dr Olav Fykse Tveit is going to stress on the issues surrounding persecution of the Christians in the Middle East.

Fr. Peter : do you have any additional news on this meeting?

Thanks

Comments

  • The meeting is politically motivated.

The Rev. Dr. identified eucharist and ordained ministery as stumbling blocks.  They are not stumbling blocks.  The identify a chasm of light years distance separation.  They are not small issues.
  • Translation of the true meaning of the meeting:  'please, Your Holiness, can you apply pressure on the Middle Eastern powers, because as the World Council of Churches we have not been able to accomplish anything because they do not respect us.'
