Monk Arrested for Carrying Nun's bones in luggage

edited December 1969 in Random Issues
Hi,

I was wondering what you thought of this story:

http://au.news.yahoo.com/odd/a/-/odd/8674429/monk-caught-with-nuns-skeleton-at-airport/

A monk was arrested in Greece (Athens) after they found a dead nun's bones in his luggage.

Is it right that we, as Orthodox Christians, keep these bones with us in boxes also?

Anyway, its a good thing he didn't travel with Egypt Air, or British Airways. They'd have made him pay for an extra seat.

LOOOL! Thoxsasi, have you run out of questions?

Whenever I want to think of random questions (I do it for fun, like you), I open up my Bible and start reading.
You'll encounter a lot more {meaningful} questions that I'm sure will be of much benefit to the rest of us. :)

I sure did get a good laugh out of this one though.
  • hahahaha, lool :)
  • Guys,

    THis is a serious story.

Many of our bishops carry and transport with them the relics of saints.

Our Church has the relics of Saint George, and I can tell u: He wasn't martyred in Hertfordshire!! That's for sure!!!

of CANONIZED saints....not any bones.....also that box that you see in their hands doesn't have much.....it fact, it's normally like a very very small part of a bone in that box.
ALSO, more importantly, they have special papers that go with the box to validate its passing through in an airport or secure places.

    Thanks Mina!

    That's a relief
  • Did the monk dig up her skeleton as stated:

If he did, then I would think that that is a bit extreme.
He got charged for theift, desecrating the dead, and also got suspended from his monastic duties for
three monthes for leaving his monastry without authorisation.

  • Bizarre story.

    It belongs in Ripley's.
  • But seriously ILSM,

Had this monk travelled with Egypt Air or British Airways, I'm sure they'd have been asked to pay for an extra seat.
