Why could Jesus forgive sins before his death?

  • I think an interesting and often neglected aspect of divine justice arguments is that is is all about what man deserves for his actions.  i.e. man did xyz sin so he must be punished.

It neglects a more important argument - if justice is to be a motivation of God at all.

God being the good Creator of the world is equally entitled to His just rights. Being the Father of sons through creation He is entitled to our worship and love.  The previous image of 'justice' neglects this more important point. If we have a human-centred notion of justice, God is denied His due right. No matter how much we muck up, God will never deserve being denied the purpose we were originally intended for.

Simply put, the delivery of this justice against man is very unjust towards God.
  • He could forgive sins becasue of Luke Chapter 2 verse 21. Remember for God to forgive sins there had to be sheding of blood. it was done on that day in Luke Chapter2 verse 21.
