Hi everyone.
I have been doing some reading recently about the Orthodox situation in Israel. It has been a mixture of the Greek Patriarch of Jerusalem selling land to Israel, and the Armenian and Palestinian Christians generally being treated badly by the Israeli state through land grabs and tax implementations.
I also know that in 2006 HH Pope Shenouda and the Synod issued a decree against travel to Israel. But has a strong friendship (or at least respect) for the Palestinian President.
But then the National American Coptic Assembly released a statement of support for Israel, and against the palestinians, stating they have no claim to Gaza and West bank.
can anyone summerise for me the stance of the Church on Israel in general, such as their view on Israel's policies and the state as a whole? As there seems to be a mixed bag.
