[quote author=imikhail link=topic=11805.msg141053#msg141053 date=1310082950] How do these hymns get added to our heritage. Who approves them. What is their source.
you should ask the or a bishop instead of asking us. HGB Youssef is willing to take ANY kind of questions.

That was a separate topic altogether. We know the story of how Eparthenos was introduced in our Church. But here we are talking about another part that is added by CIA to the one originally introduced. Am I missing something?

oh.....you were specifically talking about Egennesis....ok. the answer is: he (with the chorus' help) constructed it--rakebha on e-parthenos. they didn't have a recording for that hymn, and being one for the Nativity, they chose to do that.....which actually made many people attack him--people outside egypt who don't really care about him being a cantor who has some say in what happens in hymns today.
I am still baffled as to why borrowing Greek hymns or words instead of authoring Coptic ones. Are we, as Copts, lost the Coptic language to the extent we only know the alphabet? ???

I am not really with that idea......i don't think we are done with finding what's lost and dealing with what's already there that we can now author new hymns.
