When did the Coptic Catholics split from us? And why is their liturgy very similar to ours?

    AFAIK the Ottomans were the ones who gave the Coptic Catholics their hierarchy a couple centuries ago. They use the same rite as we do (though Coptic Catholic clergy wear vestments that are more Byzantine in style), they are one of the "Uniate" Catholic Churches. They are in communion with Rome but they follow the rites and rituals of our Orthodox Church.
