[quote author=PopeKyrillos link=topic=13153.msg154435#msg154435 date=1333942239] The correct seasons to sing Tenen are in the month of Kiahk, as well as on Bright Saturday
Tenen is a hymn that is supposed to be said every week in the Midnight Praises, it is just cut out because of time constraints.
You guys, tenen isn't a seasonal hymn. It is said all year round just like Kirie Eleison 41 times before the procession of the lamb. It just isn't said because there isn't enough time. It is mostly said in kiahk and occasions like it because it is considered to be a "special" time in the year so we decide that we will make the time. But if we were correctly following the rites it would be said every week.

In most books.......it says the hymns is to be said on Kiahk and Bright saturday. the new opinions that is going around is you can say it annually. I would love to see an old source that says it can be said at any time.
I am not against saying it annually.....i just don't like it. But i can accept it.

What diocese? and what books?
Southern Cali. diocese and the regular tasbeha books. Sorry, i don't have a copy with me so i can't tell you exactly.
"regular tasbeha books"...i can only have two in mind, the english psalmody published long ago by Queens church which i believe does say kiahk and bright saturday. There was also another english book. but any english book is really modern....it is as modern as the opinions that are going around. which is fine.....i just need an older source.
The notorious black psalmody book from Queens, NY, indeed states that Tenen is to be chanted during Kiahk and on Bright Saturday. The Southern Diocese book, Service of Deacons, likewise states that Tenen is to be chanted, under the Rites of Bright Saturday.

I usually don't like to chime in on this stuff, or for that matter identify what is in my personal library, but I couldn't resist.
