Question on Pentecost

Hello everyone,

I just wanted to ask a question on church rites.


Do we actually believe that Pentecost is the actual birth of
the church or is this a Western belief?

    On the Pentecost day, the apostles and the disciples were sanctified by the Holy Spirit; they received the baptism of the Spirit. It is what the Church practices today through the Holy Myron. Without receiving this seal of the Holy Spirit, we cannot become the sons of the Father nor can we be adopted by Him.


    So, in essence, the Feast of Pentecost is the feast of the Church adoption or her new birth.
