Hello,
Myself a layman from India, trying to study about more about faith and traditions .I belong to Malankara Orthodox Church.
I'm trying to do a study in particular about the devotional following for Saint Joseph spouse of Mother Mary, in Coptic Orthodox church.
Of course sitting miles apart and relying only on internet it is really difficult. But if you guys could help me it will be great.
In Indian oriental orthodox traditions, churches named after St.Joseph is very less only 1 in entire Malankara.I know churches named after St.Joseph is particularly high in catholic church. It seems that devotion to St.Jospeh first started in Egypt.
1)I would like to know how the devotion to St.Joseph is being held among Coptic church?
2)Any idea about how many churches are named after him will be really great
3)In particular i have read places are venerated in Egypt where Holy family supposedly stayed. How is the devotion to Holy family is held in Coptic church
Is there much devotion for these places where Holy family stayed?
4) I ve read online
"In one small street in el-Matarya district of today's Cairo (Eid Street/Shek El-Te'eban Street), all kinds of bread and bakery cannot be leavened up to this day, since the Virgin Mary first visited that place with the Holy Family 2000 years ago and they were refused bread and cast away. This is an ongoing miracle that anyone can witness till this very day. Bread leavens normally in all surrounding streets. " from http://orthodoxwiki.org/The_Holy_Family_in_Egypt is this true?
Thank you for any support.
Regards
Stephen.
