Holy mass

Why is it that only a Hieromonk( ordained monk/priest ) can only celebrate holy mass like a priest and not regular monks.Because in the Ethiopian Orthodox Church which is what i am, a consecrated monk can do the holy mass they dont have to be ordained to priesthood.

    That's a very interesting questions that i haven't heard before. I think the answer is that monasticism is just a vow and none of its orders/levels are not of the liturgical ranks. deaconship and its ranks are higher than monks in ranks. This is simply the way it is in the Coptic Orthodox Church.
