  • translation: St. Moses the black

He lived his life denying himself, till the governor heard of his great virtues, so he yearned to see him. So when st moses heard the governor was going to visit him he escaped, but on his way, he met the governor, so the goernor asked him where is st moses the black (not knowing he was talking to him), so st moses answered, why do you want him, he is just a old guy, that is not righteous. So the governor was confused, when he arrived at the monastary and told them what had happened, they asked him to describe the person that told him so, so they knew it was st moses the black, denying himself.

St. Moses the black had the gift of performing miracles because of his humility. One time there was a meeting because one of the monks had sinned and was going to be judged, so the other monks asked St. Moses to go attend the meeting, but he refused to go. When, they persisted that he come, he went carrying a bag full of sand, that had a hole in it on his back. So when they other monks saw him they were astonished and asked him why he is carrying that bag, so he explained to them that that bag full of sand, is the many sins he has committed that are behind him, and are so many, so they understood, that they shouldnt be judging the other monks, and they let the monk go

One time there was a mandatory fast in the monastary, but there were some visitors that came to visit st. moses so he ate with them, so when some other monks saw that he broke the fast, they went and told the head of the monastary, so he told the monks he would go talk to him, but when he saw the good, that st moses did, he told him, good, because you have broke the earhtly commandment (the fast), but have not broken God's commandment, which is to show hospitality so visitors

St. Moses knew before hand that the barbarians were coming on a certain day, so he told the other monks to escape, so they asked him what would he do, he said that he has been waiting this moment, because he had killed many and he said whoever kills by the sword dies by the sword. So the monks chose not to escape and stayed with him. So they were all martyred
He died in the year 408 ad, his body is burried with his spiritual father, father isezorus at the baramous monastary.

(and its too long....someone translate the rest lol )
