Muallim Sarkis is the author of [coptic]Ari'alin[/coptic].. He lived after the 14th century because Ibn Kabar (1324 A.D) never mentioned this psali in his book "mesbah el zolma fi idah el khedma" (litteral translation= the lamp of darkness and the explanation of the service) as a part of the annual midnight praise. It is beleived that this psali was first a part of the kyahk midnight praise. Mualim Sarkis is the same author of the 9 greek verses that are chanted after saturday's theotokia in kyahk. Muallim Sarkis often mixed coptic with greek to attract the audience. He is beleived to be from Upper Egypt or at least he lived there.
