I know the bible does not say God the Father incarnated and became man but the Son did...
but why did not God the Father incarnate and became man?
Was God the Father also united with the human body of Jesus Christ since God the Father is was never seperated from God the Son.. they are one
I hope I don't confuse anyone.. and I advise people to read coptic orthodox theological books if ever confused .. ones that refute heresy..
but how can I know the truth as someone said if I do not ask questions?
perhaps God will reveal to me personally some things.. He does sometimes or maybe all the time.. but I want an answer fast
this issue of God the Father has not been on my head for a long time but just came to me today.
I read after this from a site where someone is saying do not say thankyou father for coming and dying for us .. he/she says God the Son did that
well I think God the Son is the same person as God the Father there is not two different Gods.. oh wait but don't christians believe in three persons. One God ? Im confused about that now
The Son is like the thoughts of a mind and the Father is the mind.. the mind never existed without thoughts.. it would not be a mind.. I read that from a coptic orthodox site
Comments
but why can't God the Father manifest Himself in a human body.. people won't be afraid of a human body?
Doesn't God the Son have the full glory of God? so wouldn't they be afraid of Him too?
and if God the Son is just the mind or logos of God.. how could a mind take a human body? I guess nothing is impossible for God
and in proverbs wisdom seems to be a person .. it might be more than a metaphor
And in Isaiah 9:6 Jesus is described as the Everlasting Father
The Son is of one essence with the Father, by whom all things were made. The Son is God Incarnate. The how and the way of the economy of the Trinity cannot be known to us - except through those whings which Christ told us - such as that he who had seen him had seen the Father, for the Father and the Son were one.

John
Yes, I agree with John. Please don't you get confused. Basically, the hypostasis of the Father cannot become incarnate, nor can that of the Holy Spirit, but the that of the Son can. The three is One, but it is just different characteristics "if that is the right word to use". So, like Anglian aka John said, let's not go into deep details into things that we may not fully understand because of the limitations of our human brains, but in heaven, we will understand every thing in full.
God bless you and mention me in your prayers
You are a person.. a human being.. right ?
You are a body.. but your body is nothing without your mind.. and likewise your mind is nothing without your spirit. All three things work together and make 'mikeforjesus'.
Likewise, God is the Father, the Son and The Holy Spirit. All together they are the One God.
Sometimes, in order to truly understand, you must understand that you cannot truly understand.
Hope I helped,
+God Bless
PS: this is not a teaching of the church or anything, we cannot compare ourselves to Christ.. Just sort of makes it a little easier to accept...
What matters is that He loves us so much that He sent His only begotten Son to show just how much He cares for our welfare; now that is way beyond my understanding - but I am just so grateful to our merciful Lord for His compassion for us sinners.
In Christ,
John
I agree with a lot that has been said, but I object to one thing and I apologize in advance for nit-picking about it. I object to the use of the word 'cannot'. To say that the Father or the Holy Spirit could not become incarnate and take on flesh is just wrong. In the economy of the Trinity that John refers to, it was the Son's role to become incarnate and become man. His role in salvation was to become one of us to save us. Why? That is a mystery for the ages and we may never answer it. But to limit the Father and the Holy Spirit by saying they could not do something, is wrong in my opinion. Once again, I apologize for nit-picking.
I think that Cephas put across the opinion that we all wanted in the best way. I think we will all agree.
God bless you all and mention me in your prayers
This is a very tricky topic, and you guys def. did an above-excellent job of explainin it
but what sorta helped me understnad it was
John 1:1-17 (the Gospel we read in the First Hour in the Agpeya)
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." (John 1:1)
"He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not." (John 1:10)
I don't know if this will help clear it up a bit, but hey i tried, more importantly i would also like to add, (as metnioned before) that Religon is something we are not supposed to try to make a science out of...but rather something we should put our faith in and belive in it. For when Adam and Eve ate of the "tree of knowledge" they sinned and were thrown out of paradise, we dont want to try to ATTAIN more knowledge then were supposed to have, and end up developing wrong ideas on our true faith, and thus lose eternity.
God Bless
We have to accept that the Holy Trinity is a great mystery, and all that we know of it is what the Incarnate Word has told us. It is the property of the Father to create, as it is of the Word to be Incarnate, and of the Holy Spirit to be with us always.
Why? We are not wiser than God - He has His reasons. We accept the teachings of the Church here, as elsewhere. There is nothing that God cannot do - but the way in which He chooses to accomplish His plan for us all is known only to Him.
This we accept and this we believe.
In Christ,
John
First of all let me say, "Christ is Risen"! Questioning is good as long it is done in love and to come closer to God :) . The Creed is a profound compilation of the most essential beliefs in being a Christian. You can research it in any Orthodox resources. Now, if I am permitted, let me explain a bit about the relationship between our dear Lord Jesus and our beloved Father by using John 10:30. It says:
"30 [glow=red,2,300]I and My Father are one[/glow]."
Our Lord said this when the Jews asked Him:
"[glow=red,2,300]24Then came the Jews round about Him and said unto Him, "How long dost thou make us to doubt? If thou be the Christ, tell us plainly[/glow]."
We must first know within what context verse 30 was said since it would be erroneous to state just the single statement thus taking out of context.
The Greek word for "one" is "hen" which is sexless (it is gender neutral) and doesn't mean "one person" but ONE is essence, power and quality. The Lord Jesus meant that to snatch believers out of His hands would be to snatch them out of HIS Father's hand because He and His father are "[glow=red,2,300]ONE[/glow] (hen)"- one in power, design, action, agreement and in essence! They are not one person but 2 persons and yet both of them are God (in essence).
WE also must know the difference between Person and Nature to fully understand. Person is your identity, WHO YOU ARE: Name, culture, traits, etc,. Nature is WHAT YOU ARE: a human being. It's like saying a brand name jean is it's name, but it's nature is denim (there are much better examples that these).
We are mind (soul-psyche), body and spirit- 3 parts- but one Person! God is the only Living Being who is 3 Persons and one nature. He did not come down under 3 disguises (Father, Son and Holy Spirit) as if they were 3 masks of one person. This is a heresy called modalism.
I hope this helps and not confuse anybody. God is so unlimited and we are soo limited. But when God told His Name to Moses (Exodus 3:14) Moses received this declaration on his knees in adoration. Let us do the same. Amen.
[move]Glory to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit. Amen! [/move]
We are in your debt for a most clear and helpful exposition; I have seldom seen it done better.
In Christ,
John
