Ghosts

So as a child my parents always told me there's no such thing as Ghosts

but now as many of you see on the travel and discovery channels  you'll find many shows based on the concept of Hauntings and Ghost Chases

I know people can be possessed by demons, and on the other side of hte spectrum SAINTS do appear to people

But isnt' the fact that a Saint Appiration similar to the concept of Ghosts?

Comments

  • Will when people hear the word ghost they don't think of saints or demons but they think of imaginary spirits if you want to call it that haunt you as you said. As for me I don't believe in ghosts, although I believe in saints that appear and in demons.
Saint appiration is not even close to the concept of ghost in my eyes or concept.

It all derives from their growing spiritual emptiness and their ignorance, whether they are adventurers, researchers or scientists. What people usually define as "ghosts", and dare I say also most UFOs, are visuals of demons (there are many types of these).

Wow, this stuff is what I'm really interested.  Very interesting indeed.

I do not believe in ghosts, but I do believe in demons and angels (of course). The highlighted part is something I really want to learn about... i've heard this preacher at my church preach about it.  But when I asked another preast, he said something contrary to what the first one said.  Anyways, what i heard was that there are demons in different stages.

There are three different of stages of demons.  The first ones, who betrayed God and followed Diablos (Satan) are in hell. The second ones (but I think the preacher implied that they were somewhat better than the first ones), who betrayed are here on earth with us.  And the third ones, who did not make up their minds whether to follow Satan or follow St. Gabriel in defying Satan, are in the skies (like the UFOs). Don't know if this is true, but i want to find out. And i will with God's help.  This preacher is from the Ethiopian Orthodox Church btw.

From another guy I heard was that there are two worlds in this world: Spiritual and the real one we live in.  In the spiritual, there are demons and they even have belongings too like we do, like cows and stuff like that.

Another one i heard from a preacher was that there are two types of demons in this world (or 'aganints' --in Amharic language).  There are those who are in spirits and those who have flesh.

Very interesting stuff and looking forward to learn more about it and discuss it here.

Hey, no problem. But I will have to ask the guy on that. I will call him tomorrow and ask him, because i want to know too.
  • Lol thanks alott
  • Sorry for the delay... I will definately ask him today and let you know.

I want to know too really, because this is an interesting topic.

When our fathers that always pray and fast are fit enough, they can see these demons.
Meaning, they can see into the spiritual world.  :o

my cousin, who also follows Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo faith, told me once when I was back in Ethiopia that this priest he knows, while walking somewhere, he just stops by and prays on a spot. Why? Well, because he sees the
demons that are at the spot.  Wow, this is very wonderful gift given to him by God. I wonder if we can be like that
at one time in our life. image

  • I just saw something on the discovery channel last nite about ghost hauntings in al capone's cell. I believe that people do really see something. However, not like al capone's ghost or anything, but a devil. Haunted houses, and death row, and abandoned jail cells are where demons like to stay. It's there home on earth. That's what a priest once said. Even those physics and people who "hunt ghosts", those people look somewhat odd. They have a devil like nature. Again the priest that i heard talking about this topic said "It might be that the people who are able to see ghosts and demons, may have a demon inside them, that senses other demons, so that way you can see them too".
  • I don't want to steal this thread or anything but i have a related question.

When a person dies possessed, where does that demon go?
  • That demon or demons most likely takes the soul of the person that was possesed and takes it to hades but i have no true background on this question just guessing really
  • I 50/50 agree with JYDEACON and not fully only because

there is a story of Priest who was possessed and the devil would
only leave him when he went into the alter to pray the Mass
adn this was seen by St. Macarius i believe

so what if the person who is posssessed is repentful but hte spirit wont leave him, i mean he dies, and abouna prays on him taht he may go to heaven..

    any opinons?
