Link between Second coming and Global warming

edited December 1969 in Faith Issues
I reckon that there might be such a link between the second coming or even the last judgment, for that matter, and global warming, but there might possibly be one or two, because I've been debating about whether when global warming actually strikes, that that the second coming might have something to do with it? Does anybody think that this might be another sign that the second coming is probably arriving very soon?  I know my prediction or theory, or whatever you may want to call it, isn't anywhere near reality, which I know might not be as accurate as can be!!

  • In Revelation St John mentions strong heat will hit the globe. Sadly people will increase their curses and blasphemies against the Lord. Is this what you mean?

    Revelation 16:8-9
8The fourth angel poured out his bowl on the sun, and the sun was given power to scorch people with fire. 9They were seared by the intense heat and they cursed the name of God, who had control over these plagues, but they refused to repent and glorify him.

  • There will always be signs that can be construed as precursors to the events of the book of Revelations, but I doubt there is any viable evidence to suggest there is any stronger connection than what people usually make at the onset of many other global catastrophes. In other words, I don't think there is any more connection between Revelations and global warming than say the recent wave of wars and atrocities around the world.

  • John_S2000,
That verse is not the same as the current news of global warming. Consider that one of the effects of global warming is the melting of ice caps. After Noah was saved God promised that he would not destroy the human race with a flood (which would result from global warming).

i agree, i don't think that verse is to be taken in that context. and also it says they were seared by the sun, which is directly effecting the human race not the ice capse as aem81 said.

Not that I am an expert on global warming but the melting of ice caps won't flood the earth the way God flooded the earth in the times of Noah...From memory I, scientists have said that sea levels will rise approx. 20-30ft if the caps melt, which will flood most coastal city's but nowhere near to the extent of Noah's time....it will be hard times but nowhere near human extinction
  • we think th e world will end soon..what would the people that were in world war 1&2 have felt?..... it was humongus wars... like th book of rvelations said....
and... Jesus said no one knows but the Father, so we do we even bother to try to find out..cause we wont find out untill it starts
