Your self esteem can affect your actions and make you do all kinds of horriblle things. But your self esteem shouldn't depend on your looks, it should depend on God's eternal love for you.

The thing with self-esteem, is that often we base it on fickle people's perceptions of yourself, rather than stable internal truths that do not fluctuate. In this way, for some self-esteem becomes always wanting acceptance, and sadly doing all they can to please, sacrificing their innate sense of value.
