  • The jewish holy book is called the Tenach (although mostly referred to as the thora in a pars pro totum (part for the whole))

The Tenach exists of three parts:

    1. The Thora (which is another name for the pentateuch (penta is greek for 5)) which has the first 5 books of our OT: Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numeri, Deuteronomy

    2. Nebiim (meaning profets, you might notice a similarity to the arabic 'nabi')

    3. Chetubim (meaning writings, you might notice a similarity with the arabic : 'ketab')

  • The Hebrew term "Torah" means 'instruction, 'teaching', or 'doctrine'. Modern day Jews still refer to the first five books of the Old Testament as the Torah (Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy). Pentateuch is a Greek term meaning "five-volumed", thus the first five previously mentioned books of the OT. Hope this helps and Happy Pascha to everybody!!! Christos Anesti! Al Masih Kam!
  • Thank you soo much.  And i am very sorry sorry for the late responsee
