when he prays over the top of our heads are we forgiving for our sins?

    NO, because you haven't confessed them and when he prays he doesn't pray the absolution.

    You're only forgiven your sins when you confess them and abouna prays the ABSOLUTION on your head.

    When abouna simply prays on your head it's either just a blessing or it's for permission to do something which otherwise you would not be allowed to do... like coming late to the mass and wanting to wear your tonia.

    Commiting a sin and going to Abouna to confess is not enough, you must REPENT first.
