Why is Christ called the Son of Man?

edited December 1969 in Faith Issues
I thought He was the son of God? I mean, I thought He was born of the Holy Spirit and of St. Mary.

  • This is a good article, glance through it...

He is Son of God of course, but he is also Son of Man. It seems to be an ancient Semitic phrase which means, a human. And he is both, Divine and human.

As Son of Man, he represents us all, and becomes a New Adam who unites us to God, just as Adam represented us all and made a mess of things and separated us from God.

If you know the Narnia stories then you will recall that Aslan refers to the boys as Sons of Adam, and Adam means Man.

I'd like to know if the conclusions reached are valid or not.

    Thanks
