Remnkemi,
Thanks for your response. I agree with everything you've mentioned. I think the reason I ask this question is while although i love coptic i find it harder to teach and get the kids engaged with the language. When i teach them things in E…
Let me pose this question for you all, to stir the pot a bit if you will.
I'm sure anyone who has seen me on the forums for a long time can say that I truly love the Coptic language. However, given this argument, in the lands of immigration, at wha…

SWMSANMG,
If possible, can you send me the one form Mo3alem Zaher? [email protected]
Everyone else,
I didn't mean the hymn itself, I meant the tune. Of course the hymn is…

Sorry to add further confusion, but:
What are we supposed to say in the "amen alleluia" at the end of the general funeral.
Palm Sunday, normal, or passion week?
Before this cha…
Posted on the Facebook page for the Service of the Deacons yesterday.
"Regarding the tune for the hymns of the general funeral service, the official ruling from the Holy Synod is that it should be prayed as detailed in the Service of the Deacons (i…

IS that right? I really doubt that.. feast of annunciation is a Lordly feast while Lazarus Saturday isn't.. it isn't about what we celebrate yearly and what not... I'd like…
Well said Cephas...Main reason I have left all forums...constant bickering and going in circles over and over again. Its like playing a broken record over and over again but with a horrible track playing.
How do you know dinosaurs did not exist while Adam was alive? The earth has layers that suggest it is millions of years old, is that necessarily the case? Adam was created a man, not a child, yet his flesh and bones would seem to have gone through a…

Why is it that many churches chant the him "Pi-ehmot ghar" regularly before the Pauline, when a bishop isnt there? Even though it is a papal hymn.

Its not a pap…
The creed was a proclamation of faith against heresies. Heresies still exist so the point of the creed still holds fast and should be said in its entirety.

Actually Imikhail, on good Thursday it is suggested that the priest pray the part "He came to the slaughter.." from the Gregorian Liturgy instead of He ros…
Saw this as an update on the Service of the Deacons page on facebook(how reliable it is I do not know, I assume it is)---Regarding the tune and hymns for the general funeral prayer after the Hosanna/Palm Sunday service, it is to be prayed as detaile…
TITL, to respond to your previous question. I doubt any one has served in a liturgy(except ones be recorded for a purpose) have done EVERY hymn possible for that liturgy. I assume also that the liturgy of St Basil that was recorded by HICS includes …
The psalms in the agpeya have both joyful and sorrowful themes. And prophecies related to the resurrection and incarnation etc. During pascha we are focussed completely on the passion of Christ. So it's not fitting to pray from the agpeya that has …
I don't know what brought Mighalo into this? I'm speaking in general. Obviously one hymn doesn't make or break a liturgy. I'm speaking if you have long or short liturgies. You are taking what I've said out of context. It was an example. I'm saying t…
So is it the burden of the priest then to make liturgies longer when someone may have extenuating circumstances? What if many people in his congregation have two jobs just to feed their family? They don't always have time to stay for a long liturgy …
Imikhail,
People who like to skip hymns usually have no appreciation for the hymns period or do not have the spiritual depth to withstand a 25 minutes hymn.
This can be treated with education about the Coptic music and how the hymns were developed…
You aren't going to find psalms recorded. You may find a few but not all of them. You just need to "rekeb" the tune to the psalm. If you really know the tune then it shouldn't be an issue.
